Most of the dogs at the SPCA are amazing, but there are a few who that need a little extra training. Tony came down to assess the dogs and help us train them so they too can find their forever home. |

So Meg thinks this guy can teach me not to show my dominant side, who does she think she’s kidding. |
I think I am just going to go over to him and show him my teeth, that will scare him off. |
That didn’t work, now he’s walking me. Plan B... |
I am going to walk over to him, show my teeth and snarl really loud and show him whose boss, enough is enough…. |
A picture is worth a thousand words…..

Hi, I’m Travis, Meg and this nice man are going to teach me how not to be scared when people get to close to me, you see my eyesight is failing, and if I don’t know who you are and you bend down, I get a little aggressive, which has stopped people from adopting me. I am really sweet normally, and maybe when the training is finished, I will find my special someone who will understand my condition. |
Two Leashes???? I hope Meg doesn’t go one way and Tony go the other way - that will cause problems. Ohhhh now I understand, when I got a little aggressive, they keep each other safe, not that I would hurt them, but I do have a mean growl when I want to, I heard them say that in no time they will get all this under control, I can’t wait to find my very own family. |
I like this blue leash, lets me really explore my surroundings. |

I want to thank Tony for coming all the way from Buffalo to the SPCA in Cattaraugus County to help us help the animals and all the volunteers who walk them, especially Meg who is still grinning from ear to ear because of all the wonderful information that Tony provided us with. He had great information for the shelter dogs and how we can help them. I am going to be using some of his techniques on my dogs at home. I have the greatest respect for all who care about the lives of the animals and who give so much and ask so little in return. Please be good to your animals, when you notice a problem, fix it. If you can’t fix it, find a trainer who can help you. Sometimes it’s a simple fix and other times it takes a little more time, but it is worth it, for you and for your animals. If we all do our part, we can prevent so many animals coming into the shelter environment.
I want to thank everyone who works at the SPCA, who volunteers at the SPCA, who donates to the SPCA, the animals depend on all of us.
THANK YOU
