All of us here at the SPCA want to THANK YOU Jenn for taking one of the FIV cats and giving her a wonderful home.  Thanks for adopting Lucy also!

Buck was such a character at the shelter and even though he spent three years with us and his roommate Earl - Buck was happy to leave and go to his forever home..

Buck’s new mom wrote an update about buck:

Buck has been such a good boy. He slept in our room through the night and had no mistakes. Took me about 15 min to get him to go down the stairs  but when he finally did he was so pleased with himself. I let him work up the nerve cause making him wouldn't do him any good. He went right outside and did his business.

Buck got adopted!!!!!!

He is marking around in the house but he stops when I call his name and we take him outside.

The only question she had was what to feed buck - apparently now that he is KING of the house he decided dog food isn’t something he wants.

We wish Buck and his new family many years of happiness!!!!!!!

Rusty and Heidi in their new home!

Although we are excited that both got adopted, Rusty had been at the shelter since 1994 - so needless to say the staff and volunteers were doing a happy dance when Rusty got adopted, and it just got better from there when the new parents of Rusty decided that they would adopt Heidi also.  Their new mom says:

Just to let you know Rusty and Heidi are doing great! You'll see how well they're getting along when you upload the picture attached.

They've been going on many "walkies" everyday and when it was real hot and humid they chilled in the AC inside. Very spoiled mutts indeed!!!!

They have really brought joy into our lives. So glad we decided to take them both~~~~

Thank you Debbie for giving these two special dogs a wonderful home!

I just wanted to give you an update about our Jake.  As you know, Jake was your longest resident at your facility for six years. I was a little hesitant of getting a seven year old dog, since my grandmother always said, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks."  Well, she is smiling down on us now.  Joe and I could not let Jake spend the rest of his life in the shelter. We read that most black dogs are not desired, and that also disturbed us. We had to do something.

We truly want to thank all the employees and volunteers who worked with Jake during his stay with you.  We thought we would be in for a long training process, and to our surprise, not even close........Jake is an extremely smart dog.  We trained him on the invisible fence and he learned right away.  Now he has three acres to "zoom" around, with his new companion, Kayla. (our golden retriever)   Hopefully, next year we can get him to swim with her.  He is still a little scared, but these things take time.

As far as housebreaking...This was truly the biggest shock of all.  When he made a mistake, we said "No" and took him outside right away.  This only lasted about two days.  When we went to work, we put him in a cage.  That lasted only three weeks.  I was a little hesitant at first, but Joe said he thought Jake was ready to roam free in our home, while we weren't there.  This is Sept. 1st, and he has never had an "accident."  (nor has he ever done  any damage to our home)  There is something to be said about adopting an older dog.
We never had a dog that caught on so quickly. We were truly blessed with this "little guy"
and he is truly enjoying life.

We had the lump on his nose removed.  It turned out he was shot with a bebe gun when he was a puppy.  Isn't that terrible?   The vet gave us the bebe to show us. We also had his teeth cleaned and he looks like he is about three yrs. old.  He is always wagging his tail and is the most loyal dog of all.  If only your other visitors knew how great Jake would be, we would of lost out. All he needed was love and patience.  Now he knows this is his forever home.

Again, thank you for everything.  I also want to express a warm thank you to our new friends Eric and Margaret.  Eric was such a loyal friend to Jake, that he now visits him at our home.  He worked with Jake whenever he got a chance at the SPCA.

May God bless you all.  Have a happy and safe holiday weekend.        P.S.  I am hoping to bring Jake in some day.  You will never recognize him.

Love and God Bless,
Joe and Lynn Steen
