Frequently Asked Questions Do you euthanize your animals? Rarely. The SPCA in Cattaraugus County only euthanizes animals if it is deemed medically necessary; meaning the animal is beyond medical care. The SPCA in Cattaraugus County does not euthanize because of space concerns. How many animals do you have? It depends. Usually we have over 70 dogs and 100+ cats. What breeds of dogs do you have? We have a large array of dogs and cats. The best thing to do is come and take a look at them. Where do your animals come from? Our animals come from cruelty cases, town/village dog control officers, other shelters and people surrendering their dogs or cats. Do you take farm animals? Yes, but only if they are from cruelty cases. Where does your money come from? The majority of our funding comes from donations. How can I help? You can help by giving monetary donations, supplies such as bleach and soaps, dog and/or cat food, blankets, cat litter, or by spending a few hours a week walking or playing with the animals. Who can adopt an animal from the SPCA? Only people over the age of 18 can adopt an animal. You can fill out an adoption application on our Adoption page. What information do I need to supply to adopt an animal? You will need references with phone numbers, the adoption fee, as well as some basic personal information regarding your living situation. What are the adoption fees associated with your animals? The adoption fees can be found at the bottom of our Adoption page. What are the hours of your Shelter? We are open Monday-Saturday 12pm to 5pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4 pm |
